Helen Challenge Results

Posted by The Cell on 16th April 2011

It was an awesome morning down at The Cell today with some of our best vying for over $400 in prize money in the Final of our “Helen” Challenge.

Biljana took out the Most Improved Award and $125 with a massive 4:19 minute improvement from her baseline time! Not only that, she took home an additional $85 as the fastest female of the day! Fantastic effort Biljana!

It was a great battle for fastest male with Rhys, F-J and Jacko crushing Helen. Jacko, after a late start, finally prevailed but Rhys and F-J are closing fast in the fitness stakes on their naval counterpart.

F-J didn’t go home empty-handed, taking out 2nd place of the Most Improved category with a big 1:17 minute improvement. It’s amazing to watch F-J give absolutely everything, including most of his stomach contents, each time he hits up a WOD. It’s unbelievable that he can actually improve on his times as it always seems he’s got nothing left. But improve he does! Once again, Batty took home a prize as one of the big improvers, taking over a minute off his time. Batty continues to improve and would have to be one of the fittest 40 somethings walking around. Even after recent illness and thoughts of pulling the pin on today because of that, he did what most wouldn’t do and turned up to have a crack. That’s what makes the difference between those who achieve their goals and get the results they want and those who don’t. You’re always an inspiration Batty!

Jacko and Batty very kindly gave up their winnings and asked The Cell that they be donated to Princess Margaret Hospital for Children. Thanks lads, over $100 going to a great cause.

A big thank you to all who turned out to watch and cheer on their fellow Cell mates. We all love the support. It was great to see Michelle walk in with a big smile on her face post major knee surgery.

Also a big thank you to all our staff and helpers, Mary-Anne, Carole, Dani, Storm and Adrian. We can’t hold these events without you.

Stay tuned for the next big Cell Challenge, let’s get everyone on board and make it huge!!

Get In The Game

Posted by The Cell on 9th February 2011

This Saturday we are holding the prelims for first Cell Challenge of 2011. The WOD is “Helen” and we have 2 categories in both male and female divisions; As Prescribed and Scaled. The WOD is straight forward. It involves running, kettlebell swings and pull ups. There aren’t too many of you who cannot do the WOD. It is designed that way. It is designed to allow maximum participation and that is the goal; to have as many of you as possible participate and feel the fun, exhilaration and satisfaction of competing.

Even better, you have the opportunity to win a cash prize. EVERYONE has the opportunity! You don’t have to be the fastest, the strongest or the best. You just have to have a go. The entry fee is placed into a prize kitty with the most improved athletes taking out 60% of the prize money. The last challenge saw the most improved win over $100! The more people involved, the greater the prize money.

We understand that you may be fearful of competing. Worried that you can’t do pull ups on a red band or swing a 10kg Kettlebell. Remember, it is not how fast you complete the WOD, but that you have a go. In 9-weeks time you have another go and we look at the improvement in your time. Even if you struggled through every rep of the pull ups on the prelim day, you may still take out top prize and prove to yourself that you can do it! We know from watching you all, that you can do it. Bring your friends, bring your family; those you love and show them what you can do.

Take a risk, put yourself out there and GET IN THE GAME……..
