The purpose of the Regional Games is two-fold. First, it is a community event. The Regional Games are going to be held once a year in 18 locations around the world to celebrate what we all love and do every day. It is an opportunity to get together, compete with one another and see some exceptional athletic performances. And just like at every affiliate, there will be athletes there that are just starting out, and cannot do the workout at the prescribed weight. We will allow scaling of the workouts. Athletes who scale any part of a workout will be out of the running for the qualifying slots.
Secondly, it is a qualifying event for the CrossFit World Championships in Aromas California, July 11th and 12th, 2009. We will have 2 qualifying slots for the top men and 2 slots for the top women from our region.
If you want to have a shot at qualifying for the CrossFit Games in Aromas, sign up early for the Regional Games. If you procrastinate, you may not get a spot. We will be opening registration on 10th January 2009 . Slots will be given out to the first athletes that register, regardless if they are modifying or not.
Each competitor will have his/her own judge. The standards will be strictly enforced. The standard for pull-ups will be from full extension at the bottom to chest pressed tightly to the bar at the top. For more information on the standard for the pull-up there is a great video on the main site, http://media.crossfit.com/cf-video/CrossFitGames_2008WorkoutStandards.mov
There will be time limits for each event.
Scaling will be allowed. Athletes who scale any part of a workout will be out of the running for the qualifying slots.
The registration will open 10 Jan 2009 – 20 Mar 2009!
